The Regional Centre for Mapping of Resources for Development (RCMRD) hosted the 7th RCMRD International Conference (RIC2023) at RCMRD premises in Nairobi, Kenya, from August 8 to 10, 2023. Over the last six years, RIC has hosted over 4,000 delegates from Ministers, Principal Secretaries, Government Officials, Scientists, Development Partners, Researchers, and Academic and Media groups. The conference provides an excellent platform for effectively utilizing geoscience to inform policies.
This year’s conference theme, “NEXT LEVEL: Space to Community,” emphasized the importance of utilizing geo-science for effective policy implementation. The conference’s main pillars were: (1) Land Management; Policy & Development; (2) Agriculture and Food Security; (3) Biodiversity Conservation and Blue Economy; and (4) Innovations & Data.
Taking an active part, the Centre for Environment and Development (CED), Represented at this event by Dr. Marc Anselme Kamga, have shared the results of its recent studies on monitoring the evolution of land degradation due to mining in Cameroon.
